Accident Repair

Prime Automotive Solutions repairs accident damage at 29 Finlas Street, Glasgow G22 5DU. That covers bodywork, dent removal, smart repair for scuffs and scratches, painting with colour matching, and help with the repair side of an insurance claim. Small jobs can be done in a day. Panel and paint work takes longer. Call 07551 628393 for a quote.

Most drivers who find us aren’t sure what they need. A scraped bumper might be a polish or a full respray. We’d rather look at it and tell you straight than sell you the bigger job.

What we repair

Crumpled wings, cracked panels, damage from a shunt. Full repair and restoration for all types of vehicles.

Scuffs, scrapes and light scratches fixed in the damaged area only. No full respray. Usually the cheapest route.
Door dings and shallow dents pushed out. If the paint is intact, the panel often doesn’t need repainting.
Paint matched to your car’s paint code, blended into the panel beside it so there’s no visible edge, then finished with clear coat (lacquer).
The estimate, photos and invoice your insurer asks for, so the repair side doesn’t hold up your claim.

Which repair does your car need?

Damage where the paint is still intact usually needs the smallest repair. Cracked paint, creased metal or a split bumper needs panel work and a respray. The table is a guide. We confirm the repair once we’ve seen the car.
Damage Usual repair Typical time
Scuff or scratch that hasn’t gone through the paint Smart repair Same day to 1 day
Shallow dent, paint unbroken Paintless dent removal Often a few hours, under a day
Cracked or scraped bumper Bumper repair and respray 1 to 3 days
Dent with cracked paint, or a crease in the metal Panel repair and repaint 2 to 5 days
Several panels, or anything near the structure Full body repair A week or more. Parts decide it
One more thing that catches people out. If your bumper holds parking sensors or a radar unit, the repair may need them refitted and checked afterwards. We’ll tell you at the estimate stage if yours does.

How an accident repair works here

  1. You send photos or bring the car in. Photos give you a rough idea. They don’t replace someone looking at the car.
  2. We inspect it and write an estimate. Parts, labour and paint, itemised.
  3. You agree the plan. If insurance is paying, we send the estimate and photos your insurer needs before any work starts.
  4. We repair and paint. We match colour to your paint code, then blend into the neighbouring panel.
  5. We check the result in daylight. Booth lights flatter paint. Daylight doesn’t. Then we hand the car back with your invoice.

How long does accident repair take?

A smart repair or dent removal often takes a day or less. A bumper or single panel usually takes two to five days. Several panels, or parts on order, take a week or more. Waiting for parts and waiting for an insurer’s approval cause more delay than the repair itself.

We give you a date at the estimate and tell you if it moves.

How much does accident repair cost in Glasgow?

Price comes down to panel size, paint type and whether parts are needed. These are starting points. Your quote comes after we’ve seen the damage.
Job From
Smart repair (scuff or scratch) £[__]
Paintless dent removal £[__]
Bumper repair and respray £[__]
Single panel repaint £[__]
Metallic and pearl paints cost more than solid colours. Parts add to the bill and can add days. If one quote comes in far below the rest, ask what it leaves out. Preparation and colour matching are where cheap jobs cut corners.

Do you have to use your insurer's bodyshop?

No. You can usually choose your own repairer. There are catches, and it’s worth knowing them before you book.

  • Your insurer may want to inspect the damage or approve the estimate before work starts. Citizens Advice says you need the insurer’s approval before going ahead with repairs at another garage.
  • Some insurers charge an extra excess when you skip their approved repairer.
  • If our price is above the insurer’s approved rate, you might pay the difference.
  • The insurer’s own repair guarantee may not cover a garage they didn’t choose. Ask us for our warranty terms in writing.
Ring your insurer before you book and ask three questions. Do I get a choice of repairer? Is there an extra excess? Will you approve an estimate from another garage? The Citizens Advice guide to claiming after an accident covers the rest.
Claiming from the other driver’s insurer after a non-fault accident works differently. Call us and we’ll talk through where you stand on the repair side. See our page on non-fault accident repair.
